Besides the variety in terrain, probably the main aspect that separates Winter Park Resort apart from other ski areas is the fact that it has the most consistent snow, season after season. The Resort's typical 10 year average is 365 inches! Because of Winter Park's geographic location just west of the Continental Divide, Mother Nature can't help but dump white stuff on the Winter Park/Mary Jane mountains. And even in mid-April when the Resort must close, skiers and riders are enjoying incredible conditions for spring.
To quote a reader's comment about Winter Park/Mary Jane in the recent issue of Ski Magazine, "I go for the bumps and the trees. No fuss. No frills. Not too pricey." That sums it up pretty well. The mountain remains authentic and is truly the place to go for a world-class Winter Park ski vacation.
Winter Park Resort has 25 lifts including 2 high-speed six person chairlifts, 4 triple chairlifts 7 high-speed express quads, 6 double chairlifts, 3 surface lifts and 3 Magic Carpets. The Resort's uphill capacity is 40,000 skiers per hour, which means less time in lift lines since these chairs spread the skiers and riders up and out over the mountains.
Winter Park Resort is also proud to say it is home to the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD), an organization which helps people with over 20 different physical and mental disabilities enjoy outdoor recreation, from skiing to horseback riding to rock climbing.
