The key to a family ski vacation, especially if it's your first one with the kids, is to keep it simple. SolVista Basin ski area is a 5,500 acre mountain paradise tucked gently into the alpine wilderness near the west entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, SolVista is home to 33 family-friendly ski trails on two interconnected mountains with 33 runs and 25km of groomed Nordic trails.

SolVista Basin is located 79 miles northwest of Denver, 15 miles north of Winter Park and two miles south of Granby. Both Granby and Winter Park are known for a multitude of outdoor activities to include horseback riding, snowmobiling, hot air ballooning, mountain biking, golfing, and much more.

East Mountain's terrain is primarily beginner and intermediate, perfect for anyone wanting to learn to ski and snowboard.

West Mountain's terrain is primarily intermediate and advanced with limited beginner access. A separate learn-to-ski park features a surface lift for beginners.

The SolVista base lodge is a central, three-story base facility housing lift ticket sales, ski school desk, information desk, rentals, retail shop, lost and found, lockers, cafeteria, restaurant, lounge, and selected administrative offices. First-aid facilities are in the Ski Patrol building just east of the Base Lodge.

Granby is a full-service mountain community. to include a variety of restaurants, bars, banks, convenience stores, medical services, automotive services, grocery store, florists, and shopping. The Winter Park/Fraser area offers many of the same conveniences, with added restaurants and bars, shopping and a movie theatre.
