The Upper Colorado River offers a scenic float on Class II water and some Class III rapids in sections. There are half day and full day float trips available by several Winter Park/Fraser Valley, Colorado rafting companies; however, Alpine Resort Properties' preferred rafting company is Red Tail Rafting.

One of the main reasons we highly recommend Red Tail is that they include transportation to and from the river from town or a designated pick up point down valley. (And you thought we were going to say because their rafts are red, didn't you?)  Their philosophy is to not hurry the rafting trips, so just one float trip goes out a day. Lunch is provided on the full-day trips and snacks on the half-day, which makes for a good break in the float. The guides are knowledgeable, well-trained and genuinely friendly. Red Tail provides a drybag on each raft for your personal belongings. Splash jackets available free of charge.
