Unit was fine, Alpine Resorts has some issues

First, about the condo at MeadowRidge. It was nice. Not great, but nice and a good value for the money. Parking is in back so we had to carry our bags a ways through the snow, but the kitchen was well stocked, the heat worked well, and the beds were very comfortable. The rooms are a bit small and there's no washer/dryer in the unit. It's not as nice as Lakota (where we stayed last summer) but at half the price it's a good value and was exactly what I'd expected from the website. As for Alpine Resorts, I have a couple of minor complaints about what is generally an excellent and friendly operation. First, I reserved my unit through the website, which automatically adds travel insurance to the bill. There's no way to remove it! I included a memo asking that it be removed, but was billed for it anyway. The staff did eventually refund my money when I noticed it on the bill at check-in, but why should any of us have to deal with this? This is a blatant and clumsy attempt to sell people insurance they don't want and I'm offended I had to deal with it. My second issue is that I arrived in Winter Park around noon and was told that I couldn't have the keys to the unit until 4 because it wasn't cleaned yet. I was headed down to Devil's Thumb for the day and had no need to access the unit before 4, but it would have been nice to get the keys on my way down rather than having to drive back up to Winter Park after 4, then join the downhill skier traffic returning to Fraser. Downhillers probably don't mind this policy since they're going right by the office at the end of the day anyway, but it would be nice to have the option to pick the keys up early in the day (they were right there at the front desk) as long I don't enter the unit before check-in time. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly, as always. My complaints are minor, but I hope Alpine Resorts will address them and turn a good experience into a great one before next winter.
